The first organization that I chose for this assignment was Early Learning Leaders. This organization is committed to the enhancement of early child education programs. One position that I found interesting was Early Intervention Service Specialist. This position requires a Bachelor degree and knowledge of supervisory practices. It requires the person to have knowledge of intervention specialties regarding infants and toddlers. The next organization is NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) which happens to be the world's largest organization that focuses on young children. One position that I found interesting in this organization was the Senior Director, Higher Education Accreditation and Support. This position requires a Masters degree and to have a working knowledge of early childhood education as well as the current issues. This would be a field that I could definitely see myself working in. The final organization that I picked was American Academy of Pediatrics. The whole purpose of this organization is to provide education and support as well as a policy on advocacy. If I were to work in this field I would choose to be a Manager of Community-based Intiatives which aids in managing activities, securing funding, and other resources for the community. I picked these three organizations because of the connection that it has with my challenge and the amount of information i could obtain if they were to be a part of my COP.

Hi Kami,
ReplyDeleteI also found the exact same job listing on the NAEYC's website. I had never thought about pursuing jobs outside the classroom, but this assignment has got me thinking there are other options out there for us to go out and make a differene behind the scenes. I may go and explore those as I gain experience in the field.
Kami,
ReplyDeleteEarly Learning Leaders seems to be a great organization advocating for the enhancement of early childhood programs. Also the American Academy of Pediatrics that can provide so much information on children's development and how to support their successful growth. This assignment as well as so many others have opened my eyes to the employment opportunities in local and national organizations that I never thought of before. Only setting my sights on jobs in schools and educational programs have hindered my thoughts on getting involved with even bigger early childhood advocate environments and organizations. Thank you for the wealth of information you have shared!
Hello Kami,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kristen that the Early Learning Leaders seem to be a great organization. This organization catches my eyes because it also advocates for early childhood programs. It also ties in to my challenge which is High-quality childcare in early care, Head Start, and Preschool. I can truly say that the last four weeks of this course has taught me so much about advocating. I thought that there was nothing else that I needed to learn when it comes to advocating but I was truly wrong. Each week I have found so much information that I can use to assist me in my challenge. Great post and thanks for all of the helpful information.
Hi Kami,
ReplyDeleteI also found the Early Learning Leaders site. The site has so much valuable information. The position for the American Academy of Pediatrics sounds like a job that I would be interested in as well. I think that I have a calling for child advocacy! Thanks for sharing.
Kami,
