Here it is....the final post...the final blog. I remember dreaming about this moment but it seemed so far away. To be honest I will miss these courses, faculty, and my fellow classmates because each of you has helped me to grow as a person and a professional. I have been able to think about how I want to continue in advocating for children and their families on a greater scale. I am no longer afraid to speak up about injustices I see because of the courses here at Walden University. First and foremost I want to thank my instructors because you have pushed me to my limits and challenged me so much as a person. You made me realize that just doing the work was not enough that I needed to do more. My father always made me do more than what was required and I am glad that I had instructors that think just like him.
To my classmates (there are so many) I want to say thank you for all of the wonderful feedback that you have given me. Thank you to those classmates who shared personal and private experiences with me to help me get a better understanding of the work that we do. Thank you for the words of encourgement and for not laughing when I would vent about my confusion when understanding assignments. The three things that I have learned in this program is that to do this work of advocacy we need compassion, understanding, and willing to fight for what is right. I have learned in this program that I need to realize my own limitations and not to be afraid to ask for help. Finally I have learned how to accept myself and all of my strengths and flaws because it makes me who I am as person. I can help everyone realize this about themselves and learn to accept themselves.
My long term goal is to continue my work in educating young children. Many people get in this field and then leave once they advance in their degrees and/or career but my goal is to retire in early childhood education as well as being one of the authors of a famous publication. Another goal or dream I should say would be to be featured in one of Walden Universtiy's videos that are used to educate students who are pursuing their degree.
I wish everyone success in their future goals, dreams, and visions. Best of luck to the class of 2015....we did it.

Hello Kami,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your Time Well Spent post. I truly hope that you will continue your professional growth by entering into the Doctoral program for Early Childhood Education. I also hope that you get your wish to become a face for Walden University's new students who are pursuing degrees in Early Childhood Education. Good luck with all of your future endeavors.
Kami, I think its great that you have grown so much as an educator from your time at Walden. It is a Better Sweet moment when you are about to leave and graduate and go on to Bigger and Better things. Because you want to continue to Advocate and speak out about injustices I know that you will be collaborating with a lot of important educators and leaders. I think that the time that we all have spent here at Walden, we have been shown what is important and critical and the steps in which we need to take to address these issues or growing concerns. This has been an awakening for us and I really wish you the very best and Good luck with everything! :)

Kami,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your course experience and expressing your professional growth. I felt I related to several of the insights you mentioned. It is a great feeling to know the early childhood field profession and how much caring, nurturing, and educating children especially means to us. I also see the importance of our past leaders pushing and challenging us to go further or think outside the box and sometimes out of our comfort zone. I didn’t realize how much these challenges built stronger character and passion for this profession until you mentioned it. Thank you for encouragement along with your comments that inspired me to go beyond what is expected. Best Wishes and Hope to also see the day of retirement.
Kami I wish you the best of Luck also. They say the sky is the limit. Best wishes to you1

ReplyDeleteHi Kami,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I cant believe this day is here either! I don't know what I am going to do with my free time. Although at times, taking classes was a struggle for me, I will miss the intellectual discussions and reading about the passions that everyone has in the field. You are right, in this field , we need to be willing to fight for what is right. I have also found my voice and I am willing to fight for what is right in the field and outside of it! I hope that you accomplish your goals. I also hope to see you in one of the Walden Videos for other students!!! Good luck!
Kami,
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe this day is here as well. I never thought I would get here, and now I can't believe it is over. I also have learned so much, not just in the field of early childhood but with myself as well. I feel I have come out of this a stronger person ready to make stands that I would have shied away from before. I wish you luck in all your future endeavors!
